SPACE-INSPIRED STEM CHALLENGE TO BE OFFERED FOR FREE TO 10 TYNE & WEAR SCHOOLS THANKS TO THE OGDEN TRUST

“Our space-inspired STEM Challenge provides an exciting and engaging way for children to investigate the physics behind how we explore the universe”

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a £5,000 grant from The Ogden Trust.

The grant will allow us to offer our space-inspired STEM Challenge for FREE to 10 primary schools located in the Tyne & Wear region.

Developed in-house by STEM Engagement Officer, Emma Clark, an Astrophysics graduate from The University of Edinburgh, the space-inspired STEM Challenge is designed to spark students’ curiosity for space whilst also equipping teachers with enquiry-based learning teaching skills.

STEM Engagement Manager, Kirsty Hayward, said: “I would like to thank the Ogden Trust for supporting our space-inspired STEM Challenge. Our space-inspired STEM Challenge provides an exciting and engaging way for children to investigate the physics behind how we explore the universe, as well as an opportunity to meet scientists working on those challenges here in the North East.

“We are very much looking forward to working with local schools and widening aspirations amongst pupils.”

The free STEM Challenge will be allocated to schools that have not received a free STEM Challenge in the last 12 months and will be limited to one free STEM Challenge per school.

About Our STEM Challenge

Our space-inspired STEM Challenge is a 6-week practical and team-based learning programme for Key Stage 2 primary school classes.

The challenge requires children to solve ‘real-life’ challenges and big questions faced by leading North East STEM companies.

As part of the offer, Success4All will be providing all the resources and a member of our STEM Engagement team will lead the delivery of the weekly sessions.
