After an incredible 7,496 votes we have been shortlisted for the 2degrees Champions Awards 2014 for our Social Value. We are now up against 8 other organisations and have been invited to the awards ceremony that will be held in Wembley Stadium in July where the winner, runner up and commended will be announced for each category.
We are over the moon that our peers have recognised our social impact over the years and appreciate every single vote. A main reason why Success4All has been running for 7 (nearly 8) years is because of the community support!
We have been a sustainable enterprise for seven years and the result has been great. Six Learning Hubs now run in disadvantaged areas of Newcastle. We have worked in 14 schools, three libraries, three community centres delivering 25 clubs and workshops, six summer schools. We have managed youth-led art projects: creating a glass mosaic entrance panel for a community centre, carved wooden wall hangings for a new school building and producing a film on West End Heroes and developing cartoon figures of these heroes for a comic. Last year (September 2012-May 2013), we supported 272 children and young people, 10 adults and 79 volunteers/work placements. 95% of 8-16 years old stayed in education, 80% of 16+ years known gained access to higher education, training or apprenticeship, 15 known (16+ and parents) secured a job – and this is just the tip of the ice berg!
We wish everyone good luck at the awards ceremony, we are happy to be up against some amazing organisations that carry lots of social value.
