S4A Comes to Scotswood

We have recently opened our latest Learning Hub in Scotswood in the West End of Newcastle! Based at the Scotswood Centre, which has been at the heart of the community for twenty years, the Learning Hub will be open every Tuesday and Thursday between 4.30 and 6pm. The hub is aimed at children aged 8 to 18 who are welcome to drop-in and ask for help with their school work from any of our volunteers, whether that be help with their homework or preparation for upcoming exams.

The Learning Hub, which is kitted out with comfy sofas and bean bags aims to provide a relaxed and informal learning environment away from the classroom. Our volunteers are often young and friendly, making them more approachable for many children than their teachers.

In addition to helping with school related issues, we also want to give children independent learning skills and give them confidence in themselves in order to combat education inequality in the North-East.

As well as the free tuition we also offer a six week, one on one tuition scheme on a specific topic with the same tutor for only £30 and study books are also available at a low cost.
