February Half Term – What’s on?

With Christmas done and dusted and February half term just around the corner, you are probably wondering how to keep the kids entertained during the holidays, so we have put together a list of fun things to do with the family in Newcastle next week.

Ice Skating at Life Centre

Enjoy a winter’s day out at Newcastle’s only outdoor Ice Rink at the Life Science Centre, Times Square; it is a great way to have fun and exercise at the same time and it is available until Sunday 21st February! A Family ticket costing £24.50 includes 1 adult and 3 children or 2 adults and 2 children, otherwise it is £8.50 for adults, £6.50 for children aged 5 – 17, £5.50 for children aged 4 and under, and £7.50 for concessions which includes OAP’s and students.

Please note that children aged 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the ice rink and children aged 10 – 12 must be supervised by an adult (adults can watch from the viewing platform if they prefer) For more great ideas head to www.netmums.com.

Bright Sparks at Life Centre

Running until Sunday 20th March also at the Life Science Centre, Times Square, this brand new Science Theatre Show explores the world of colours, flames and flashes through lots of fun and hands-on demos! Each show lasts around 20 minutes and is recommended for children aged 5+.

BBC Newcastle Tour

Why not take your family on a tour of BBC Newcastle? With so many exciting dramas being made in the region such CBBC’s hit shows ‘The Dumping Ground’ and ‘Wolfblood’ they have lots to show off. Tours take place at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm and last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Tours are currently running on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with lots of extra dates during school holidays. An adult ticket costs £9.25, a child’s ticket is £7.00 and for concessions it will cost £8.50. However, please be sure to book your tour beforehand and check the website for all upcoming special events!

Art Academy for 7-10 year olds at Laing Art Gallery

On Tuesday 16th February, from 10am to 3pm The Laing Art Gallery is hosting an Art Academy for children to explore the galleries and try out a range of fun art techniques. This is a great opportunity for children to make new friends, get messy and have lots of fun this half term!

Aprons will be provided but it is recommended that children wear old clothes and bring a packed lunch with them. Booking is essential for this event – you can book here or pop in to the Laing Art Gallery to buy your ticket at £20. Head to the website for more information.
