In addition to the Learning Hub that we operate throughout the week at Walker Technology College, Success4All have introduced an exciting new youth café that will be open every Wednesday between 4 and 6.
Broady’s Café is currently managed by two volunteer Walker Technology students, one in Year 8 and another in Year 10. The idea behind the Café came from the Year 10 student who took part in a project with Business Sparks who came to our Learning Hubs to support the children and young people with their business ideas. Alongside this we have a number of schemes every Wednesday at Walker Technology College, including a Learning Hub for both Primary and Secondary school pupils and a computer Coding Club for children aged 8 upwards led by our computer whizz Kirsty Hayward. Success4All also offer one to one support for those children who are taking an extra Modern Foreign Language such as Portuguese and Russian.
The Café is an excellent opportunity for children to relax and socialise over something to eat and drink following the school’s early finish every Wednesday. Broady’s is not only perfect for those who have just moved to the area and are settling in, but also for other students who will have the chance to get to know their new classmates in an environment that is free from the stress of the classroom and can wind down with a cheese toastie after a hard day of school.
After the October half term we hope to keep expanding Broady’s Café alongside our Code Club and one to one tuition.
